Geothermie Delft is on the verge of delivering sustainable geothermal heat to TU Delft and the first student residences on campus by the end of this year. Over the past few years, major progress has been made in developing the geothermal source. The project is now entering its final stages before the start of heat delivery.
The upcoming activities will take place in two periods:
20–28 October
17–26 November
All work will take place within the fenced construction site along the Rotterdamseweg.
In October, some work will also take place during the evening and nighttime hours; in November, work will be limited to daytime only.
We are doing our utmost to minimize any inconvenience. The following measures are in place:
Lighting: Construction lighting is directed inward to reduce light disturbance.
Noise: We use low-noise equipment, install sound-damping screens, and continuously monitor noise levels to ensure we remain within permitted limits. However, some noise—especially during the October night work—may unfortunately be unavoidable.
Accessibility: The Rotterdamseweg will remain open. Traffic controllers will be present, cyclists will be rerouted, and truck deliveries will be scheduled on demand to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
With these final activities, we are bringing locally sourced, sustainable heat from Delft’s subsurface one step closer to reality.
