On Wednesday 25 February 2026 was the official commissioning of the geothermal source and the first delivery of heat from the new geothermal source to the buildings and student accommodation on the TU Delft Campus. At the heart of innovation, The Green Village, partners, stakeholders, and experts gathered to celebrate this historic milestone.

Dialogue, insight and pride
The morning featured inspiring panel discussions, providing fascinating insights into the backgrounds and experiences of the panel experts involved in developing Geothermie Delft (GTD) and the Delft Heat Network. Furthermore, key figures who played a vital role in the realisation of the geothermal source on the TU Delft Campus shared their perspectives, including Rass Butt (Director of GTD), Maaike Zwart (Alderman for Sustainability and Economy, City of Delft), and Hester Bijl (Rector Magnificus, TU Delft).
Following a successful networking lunch, the attending media were given an exclusive press tour, offering a unique look at the Geothermal Delft site and the heat network currently under construction.
